Abstract :
The paper presents an approach to realize the security checking of day-ahead generation schedules in a power market. Generation scheduling is a central problem of power market transactions and of most concern to power companies. The generation schedules made by ISO (independent system operator) should satisfy the demands of not only the economic principle of fair competition but also the safe and stable operation of the grids. So it´s necessary to check the security of initial unit commitment schedule and load dispatch schedule to ensure the feasibility of the generation schedules. In this paper, three approaches to realize the security checking are analyzed. The design and realization of a most promising static security checking method is described in detail. This approach takes full advantage of the functions and technical resources of existent EMS, connecting EMS with power market technical support system seamlessly, making high-quality, equitable and feasible generation schedules quickly to meet the demand of the power market. This method was applied for day-ahead generation schedules security checking in technical support system of Liaoning Power Market and the system´s good performance proved efficiency and applicability of the approach. We hope our successful experience will provide valuable reference for the future construction of the power market technical support system.
