Abstract :
We propose a novel method of ground-radio-based precise positioning that utilizes variation of wireless reception against vehicle travel as fingerprints of road segments. It is considered particularly suitable for environments where wireless reception is dominated by multipath transmission that gives unique feature points to the fingerprint, such as urban and mountainous areas. Experimental results indicating potential of location with sub-meter accuracy at speed up to 50 km/h on a winding track using a single wireless access point are presented.
