Abstract :
Chengdu Municipal People´s Government launched the comprehensive restoration project of Sha River in 2001, which focused on ecology and sustainability through pollution abatement and urban landscaping. Afterwards the waterfront environmental quality of Sha River was improved greatly and Sha River won the “International Thiess Riverprize” in 2006.But with the increase of recreational and ecological aesthetic needs of users, the development model of waterfront, which emphasizes greenbelt and squares, can´t satisfy the public demands fully. So it was necessary to consider the change of users´ demands for waterfront landscape planning, construction and management process. Therefore based on the needs of users, comprehensive evaluation of built waterfront landscape of Sha River was carried out in order to get the public evaluation of present waterfront landscape status of Sha River which is useful for future improvement and other river restoration projects.
