  • Abstract
Using the Statistics Package for Social Science (SPSS) as compute tool, this paper sets regression models between population and General Domestics Products (GDP) and analyzes the corresponding development status among population, employment and economy from 1986 to 2006 in Xi´an City. Through correlation and regression analysis, it is concluded that the increasing population in the first and the third industry are the more remarkable influent factors for the change of GDP. During the past ten years, many agricultural labours have changed into the non-agricultural between the first and the third industry. Based on the above, the countermeasures on the corresponding development of population, employment and economy are proposed as follows: focusing on the management on floating population; increasing the employment population in the second industry but lessening that in the first industry.
