Abstract
A new 3-φ AC-to-DC single stage converter is proposed integrating a 3-φ DCM boost with a DC-to-DC fixed frequency parallel resonant converter (PRC). This converter has the following features: natural power factor correction with the fast regulation, soft switching, HF transformer isolation with the resonant tank operating in above resonance mode, etc. A new gating control scheme is used for simultaneous control of boost converter and the PRC. Modes of operation are presented and analyzed. Based on the analysis, design curves are obtained. An optimum design is given and a design example is presented. Both SPICE simulation and experimental results for the designed converter are given to verify the theory and performance of the proposed converter for varying load as well as line voltage
