Abstract :
The basic architecture of the PDC mobile packet data communication system (PDC-P), which is based on the PDC (Personal Digital Cellular telecommunication system), has been already proposed. The PDC is the standard digital mobile communication system in Japan. The PDC-P enables PDC users to send and receive packet data in the connectionless environment of multimedia mobile communications. This paper presents routing functions for a data packet on the PDC-P. First, this paper proposes a method for deriving from the destination packet address information about the location of the relevant mobile station using a conversion table. This table describes the relationship between packet addresses and mobile subscriber international ISDN numbers. Secondly, the handover and the caching function at the gateway are described. Lastly, realizations of several services on the PDC-P using the IN (intelligent network) concept are described
