  • Abstract
    The edge of the image is one of the most basic characteristics of image. It not only provides the basis for the image segmentation, but also the foundation of the shape features and texture characteristics and includes much useful information which is used in image identification. This paper introduces some classical edge detection methods, in the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages respectively, an edge detection algorithm based on the wavelet transform is proposed. The simulations show this algorithm obtains an ideal effect in edge location and noise suppression. The proposed algorithm provides an effective technology for the edge detection of the image.
