Abstract :
Ancient architectures are one of the most complex structures for surveying and mapping. For the lack of effective and automated mapping method, their surveying and mapping have been done manually over the years. LIDAR is currently the most efficient surveying and mapping equipment, but limited by the aerial platform, its point cloud accuracy fails to meet the mapping precision requirement of ancient architectures. This paper puts forward a new design of flying vehicle, improved in vibration intensity, positioning accuracy and operating methods. Based on these improvements, LIDAR can work with a higher scanning precision in the mapping of ancient architectures and therefore can be further applied in this field.
