Abstract :
Rapid prototyping (RP) plays an important part in reverse engineering. This paper presents a method for polyhedron object rapid prototyping with the theory of image-based modeling. The method for camera calibration was introduced firstly and all of the parameters of the camera were calculated. From normal digital camera and calculation, the image coordinates of corners were obtained. The CAD model was established based on calculated 3D coordinates of the interested points on the object. At last, the physical prototype of the object was fabricated on a RP machine. The examples show that the results are satisfactory.
