  • Abstract
The first glacier inventory in China which accomplished in 2002 made great contribution to World Glacier Inventory (WGI). The publication series of Glacier Inventory of China are the representative accomplishments of this project, which contain 21 books and about 200 attached maps. The database of Chinese glacier inventory has been developed on the basis of the publication of first glacier inventory of China in 2004. This paper introduced the development of the Chinese Glacier Information System in which a strict quality control was conducted to and most of the editing errors in the inventory were corrected. To overview the date quality of this database, evaluation was done for glacier area, spatial position and glacier state date, respectively. The results show that the errors meet the request to resource assessment for glacier and water resources. However, spatial error brought by traditional mapping method and digitized process.
