Abstract :
A PC-based system that controls up to 8 lines, measures the delay and transmits an ASCII time-code has been built. It will connect to any modem at speeds from 1200 bits/s to 9600 bits/s using standard protocols. The fluctuation of total delay is less then 0.5 ms. That is, we can synchronize the time system of the whole Taiwan island via the telephone network with an accuracy of 0.5 ms if we can measure the path delay of our telephone system.
