            Abstract :
An aperture synthetic radiometer makes use a large number of, sparsely distributed, radiometers to achieve high resolution (special and radiometric) measurements. Each element radiometer has its own element antennas, the specifications of which strongly influence the final performance of the aperture synthetic radiometer. Therefore, in designing element antennas, one must consider the restrictions posed by the aperture synthetic radiometer requirements such as antenna size, beam-width and mutual coupling, etc. In this paper, we present an example of element antenna design, which is suited for a 8 mm band two-dimensional aperture synthetic radiometer.
