Abstract :
This paper presents framework and tools for exploiting simulation, in various form, in support of design of Smart Grids. The novel capabilities that the simulation should possess are presented with focus on the integration of communications in the design process. Sample design applications are presented. The design process is then outlined at the conceptual level.
