Abstract :
Switched reluctance motor based power train systems have been popularly proposed for HEV propulsion in recent times, especially due to their excellent extended speed-range characteristics. At the same time, inherent torque ripples of SRMs present a significant drawback. Classic current profiling torque ripple minimization techniques do not achieve satisfactory levels of torque ripples, especially for automotive propulsion applications. This paper proposes a new phase-voltage profiling technique, which combines the advantage of using a simpler controller, with particularly low levels of torque ripple in the whole speed range. Finally, a simplification of the method is presented, which could be extended to future work. Index Terms-Electric propulsion, electric vehicles, reluctance motor drives, torque control, traction motor drives.
