Abstract :
Flat left-handed material (LHM) lens provides new solution to high resolution near-field microwave target detection and imaging. By scanning the transmitting and receiving antenna pair (T-R pair) to focus microwave onto target on the other side of LHM lens and recording the intensity distribution of microwave field backscattered from the target and refocused by the LHM lens, the image of the target under detection can be formed simply by screening the recorded backscattered fields. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the scanning of T-R pair will provide higher imaging resolution than the focusing and refocusing resolution of flat LHM lens.
