Abstract
This paper presents a sensorless drive for 3-phase PMSM with tolerance to current sensor faults using a standard inverter. A nonlinear observer is used to provide rotor position, speed and phase current estimates as feedback to the system controller. During a failure in one of the current sensors, an error reconstruction method is used to achieve uninterrupted operation of the observer while the remaining phase current sensor signal provides the feedback to the control system. The performance of the proposed system is shown by simulations.
