Abstract :
Xbench is a utility evaluating the performance of Graphic Display System (GDS) on a virtual server. The benchmark tests both performance of video encoding and decoding, and performance of image encoding and decoding on the whole. Taking into account the application scenarios of virtualization technology as well as the development status of virtualization technology, six typical application programs are chosen as basic component of the benchmark, and the final test results are integrated with the results of the six typical application programs. Xbench aims at widely-used and open-source virtual environments such as Xen, a paravirtualized system, and OpenVZ, an operating-system level virtual machine. The test results of Xbench on xeno-Linux system show a subtle relationship between the performance of memory and the performance of graphic display system, as well as the relationship between the performance of vcpus and the performance of graphic display system.
