Abstract :
In this paper, we present some recent theoretical, numerical, and experimental results related to the application of the mantle cloaking technique in single and multiple antenna configurations. In particular, we propose the design of realistic linear and dual-linear polarized mantle cloaks to cover metallic cylinders that can represent either supporting struts of complex radiators or dipolar radiating elements and sensors. In the case of a receiving dipole, we prove that a realistic mantle cloak allows maximizing the ratio between absorbed and scattered powers for a given absorption level. On the other hand, in the case of transmitting dipoles, we show that properly designed mantle cloaks allow reducing the mutual blockage effects between two electrically close antennas. These results are obtained by following a proper analytical formulation and supported by numerical and experimental verifications.
