Abstract :
Due to the nature of the construction business, unplanned changes in work always happen, resulting in contract disputes. The purpose of this paper is to present the method to predict the outcome of construction litigation about design change in construction project. An expert system, integrating case-based reasoning (CBR) with rule-based reasoning (RBR) is designed to perform the task. 40 court cases filed after 2005 are collected in the study. The applicability of the model has been demonstrated on a real case study.
