Abstract :
This paper presents an online energy trading platform which caters for congestion management. It is implemented using state-of-the-art Java and Internet technologies. By using proper software design and security measures, the trading platform enables market participants in a bilateral market to submit trades while keeping the power transmission network congestion free at all time. A transmission pricing and transaction curtailment scheme is derived using DC load flow. By giving direct and spontaneous response and feedback to the market players, they are allowed to make decisions and adjustments based on the impact of their requested transactions on the transmission constraints of the network.
