Abstract :
The flow control of TCP is an encapsulation of the ACK packet itself. Senders depend on returning ACK information of receivers to adjust the size of the sliding window and sending a mass of data packets, so the arrival of ACK packets of the backward channel effect the throughput of the forward channel to a large extent. In an asymmetric channel network where the bandwidth of the reverse channel is far less than the forward channel and the rate of transmission of the backward channel ACK packets is slower than the data packets, the TCP forward channel data packet transmission is greatly limited by the rate of backward channel return ACK packets. The paper analyzes the relationship of data transport rate to the forward channel and backward channel in an asymmetric network. Based on this a feasible way is found to adjust the data transport rate in the TCP asymmetric channel and analyze the performance of the method in theory.
