Abstract :
Tsinghua Unisplendour Corp. (TH-UNIS) is involved in a project launched by JiangSu province power company (JSPC) called JSPC Digital Archives to improve the company´s archive management by building an Internet-based digital archive management system to link the archive management of JSPC´s hundreds of branch offices, departments and organizations throughout the whole province. The project consists of adoption of up-to-date digital archive management theories and strategies, construction of a computer network system, and development of digital archive management software. In this paper, several design issues of this project are presented, including: (a) the goal of this system: not only is JSPC Digital Archives aiming to handle archive management of JSPC and its branches, but it is also designed to be an important part of JSPC digital management; (b) choosing the system structure: J2EE, and its effects on system development, maintenance and update; and (c) XML in JSPC Digital Archives.
