Abstract :
Planar transformers provide a distinct advantage over the traditional transformers. However, they are widely used in the low-voltage and high-current applications, rarely used in the high voltage schemes. This paper firstly presents a high voltage application using planar transformer. Then through finite element analysis (FEA) simulation, gives the calculation results of field intensity distributions and current density distributions of the planar transformer windings. Finally, some design guidelines of high voltage planar transformer are included in this paper.
