Abstract :
The conference chair is pleased to see the rise of service sciences research all around the world and appreciate researchers????????? endeavors in this area of interdisciplinary service research. More service-oriented academic conferences and the inauguration of Service Science, the 13th journal sponsored by INFORM, mark the advance of service sciences research to a new stage. A large number of service innovations have come from industry convergence and the combination of business and technology. Represented by the Internet, mobile communication, cloud computing, etc., technical progress has led to many new service models and has burst out with unprecedented vigor and vitality. Certainly, these advances raise new challenges and urgent needs to explore the solutions from a multidisciplinary perspective. In recent years, the economic development of mainland China has faced structural adjustments and industrial upgrades. Vigorous development of a modern service industry has been the main strategic direction. By the end of the 12th five-year plan, the Chinese service industry will account for 47% of GDP. This means that there is ample opportunity for development of the service industry. To meet the practical needs of social and economic development, with the support of IBM (China) and China?????????s Ministry of Education, the Serviceology (SSME) Advisory and Steering Committee was founded in China, and the best-known Chinese universities including Fudan University are devoted to promoting service sciences research and development of the service discipline. The International Conference on Service Sciences was initiated in 2008 and the first IJCSS with Taiwan counterparts took place in 2011. We are delighted to note that more scholars from the Straits, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Korea, and India are devoted to service sciences research. We hope the conference will provide you with a platform for further communication and study to make progress on interdisciplinary- and cross-culture service research around the Asian-Pacific region and provide service innovations to emerging markets.
