Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a new transmission model using LO norm for image fog removal. In the prior work, the bilateral filter was used to reduce the halo artifacts. However, it is only a local optimization. Hence, we observe non-zero gradients to develop the gradient smoothing method for global control. The proposed model then locates significant edges to highlight the prominent parts of an image. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed model for defogging.
