Abstract :
A novel approach for modeling and controlling active front-end inverters feeding induction motors is presented and discussed in the paper. In particular, the whole system is considered as one and the same hardware is assumed to be used to control the rectifier and the inverter side. Starting from the proposed model, a predictive control strategy for the whole system has been build up, which allows to achieve the imposed motor performances, and to control the instantaneous reactive power and the DC bus voltage. Several operating conditions are analyzed by means of an accurate experimental analysis. Results confirm the feasibility of the proposed method
