Abstract :
Particular properties of the event timer application for measurement of overlapping time intervals by example of satellite ranging at KHz rate are considered. Test setup to simulate process of ranging the low-orbit satellites and output data analysis to evaluate actual capabilities of Riga event timers are described. On this basis the simulation of CHAMP satellite laser ranging at 2 KHz repetition rate is done as an example. Test results show that the considered instrumentation, initially directed to the KHz laser ranging, offers a sufficient performance to be used in various timing systems related to the overlapping time interval measurement.
