Abstract :
In the Swiss National Research Project of “Underground resources and sustainable development in urban areas”, called also “Deep City project”, the new conception of four principal urban underground resources (space, groundwater, geothermal energy and geomaterials) are put forward to realize a three dimensional management of the urban territory in order to find synergies between the different possible uses (principles of multi-use) and minimize the conflicts. Therefore, if the urban underground resources could be properly managed and exploited, it would contribute significantly to solve or ease the increasing tension for more resources. So Suzhou City was selected for the target area of “Deep City project” developing in China and detailed information of more than 100 representative engineering boreholes was collected in the working area. Eventually the geological model was built by GEOLEP-3D for 3D visualization in order to further evaluate the potential of urban underground resources.
