            Abstract :
An electronic gear is designed for short-arc xenon lamps. The electronic gear is composed of an ignitor for generating a high ignition voltage and a DC power supply for providing a DC arc current with low ripple at steady-state. The ignitor employs two stages of step-up circuits with two small sized transformers. To achieve a high power factor, a high-frequency DC-link resonant inverter with a unified resonant energy-tank followed by a rectifier is used as the DC power supply. The electronic gear designed for a short-arc xenon lamp of 350W is discussed as an illustrative example
