Using the Internet to help meet learning goals in a conventional university environment - some experiences

This paper commences by examining some of the possible roles for Internet-mediated education in the context of a ´conventional´ university degree course with full-time students living at or near to the institution. It is argued that, at the current time, there are three areas in which the Internet can significantly enhance the student learning experience without requiring major additional work from the teaching staff. Case studies are presented for each of these areas, and their success is examined subjectively and objectively from the viewpoints of both the lecturer and the students
