Abstract :
We present the design of a 100 Mbps indoor communication system based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). The goal is to build a wireless local area network that can compete with today´s wired solution in terms of performance. A major novelty of the system is the use of OFDM in a multi-user system. The high bit rate of the OFDM modem necessitates dedicated VLSI. We show how a dedicated ASIC architecture can implement an OFDM modem that allows transmission of complex symbols (QPSK, 16 QAM) at 50 Mbaud/s. For the design of the modem we used a C++ based design methodology
