Abstract :
60GHz communication is a promising technology for future multimedia applications in WPANs with its capability of supporting Giga-bit transmission in a short range. However, 60GHz signal degrades significantly through obstacles. Therefore, collaborative transmission is preferred to solve the link blocking problem. Furthermore, the utilization of directional antenna, which aims to offset the severe path loss, allows more efficient space multiplexing. So a link scheduling algorithm is needed to take full advantage of the high space multiplexing degree and enhance the system throughput. In this paper, we first design a node selection metric for the Pico net controller (PNC) to select optimal collaboration node for the blocked links. And then we propose an STDMA-based Adaptive Collaboration Link Scheduling (ACLS) algorithm to exploit the spatial capacity of 60GHz WPANs. Extensive simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme can significantly improve system throughput and provide more reliability.
