Abstract :
A number of commercial CDMA-based satellite communication applications are discussed. They were realized using highly integrated digital baseband chips. The provision of on-chip hardware for S-CDMA (synchronous CDMA) transmission and demodulation allows for a significant capacity increase. The integration of on-chip microcontrollers reduces power consumption and board size. For small to medium volumes, ASSPs (application specific standard products) were sufficient. For high volumes, customized ASICs have been generated
