Abstract
This work presents a new PID controller for power system load-frequency control. A systematic tuning method is developed. The method is mainly based on a maximum peak-resonance specification that is graphically supported by the Nichols chart. The proposed controller is simple, effective and can ensure that the overall system performance is desirable. Comparative results of this new load-frequency controller and a conventional PI one show the improvement in system damping remarkably.
