Abstract :
An adaptive acoustic resonance free electronic ballast for high intensity discharge (HID) lamps is proposed. The ballast implemented a digital method to detect acoustic resonance of HID lamps. The lamp power is kept constant. Simultaneously, end of life detection is also provided. A prototype of the electronic ballast for 250 W metal halide lamp has been built, and the experimental results proved its validity.
