  • Abstract
Existing calculation theories for soil pressure are all based on the two-dimensioned transverse vertical pressure developed on the culvert of the centerline of the highway, and are not suitable to the actual condition. Three-dimension pressure was discussed in this paper, and according to indoor experiments, the various conditions of the soil pressure around the culvert are found out along the longitudinal direction of the alignment under the various earth-fill projects. Still, to find the tendency of soil pressure around the culverts with the filling height, the finite element model is established on the test results and is simulated by ABAQUS in order to build concentrated stress and soil arching effect.
