            Abstract :
Several system architectures of radio-on-fiber millimeter-wave wireless uplink and downlink are assessed from both technical and economical viewpoints. Technically, comparisons are made by focusing on the optical MM-wave generation and transport techniques. In the economical assessment, the cost of the base station (BS) is of primary concern. Overall evaluation may suggest that the external modulation based system architecture is the most promising, followed by the one using an optical transceiver
