Abstract :
The focus of this paper is wind power smoothing using super capacitors. Due to increasing penetration of the wind power in power system, the quality of the wind power has become a major concern to keep the stability of the power grid. One of the major problems of wind turbines is power fluctuations because of the wind speed oscillations. This paper studies the pros and cons of the integration of the super capacitors in the permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) wind turbine system. The dynamic of the wind turbine is developed to design a control algorithm for the wind turbine system. The system is simulated using PSIM software and the results are presented.
