Abstract :
Over the last years, several initiatives have emerged in the context of IETF aiming for a more flexible and decentralized management of TCP/IP-based networks. Although the systems currently developed with this purpose incorporate many functionalities, they still perform some of their functions in a total ad-hoc manner. This article describes a study about the utilization of JINI technology for design NMSs, in order to provide even a more system flexibility, and a self-resilience capability. The general concepts emerged from this study were validated with the conception of two network management systems
