  • Abstract
A selective-broadcasting scheme for WDM-PON based fiber access networks is proposed and demonstrated in this paper. The broadcasting data is generated via subcarrier modulation technique. By using an asymmetrical Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI), the un-modulated continuous-wave carrier is separated and acts as a seeder for the Fabry-Perot laser diode (FP-LD) injection locking and direct modulation, which is compatible with current WDM-PON infrastructures. In our primary experiments, a 2.5 Gb/s broadcasting data and 2.5 Gb/s point-to-point (P2P) personal data are successfully integrated and transmitted in a typical WDM-PON structure with good performance. The broadcasting data only exhibits less than 1 dB power penalty after transmission in 25 km fiber.
