Abstract
The nature of the integral communications each time more oriented to mobile services, requires new technologies and platforms conceived for supporting the services in a more dynamic, adaptive and efficient way. This opens the road to the context-aware services, applications that change with the dynamism of the information from users and services. To support these applications, programmable networks emerge as the next generation networks support. This paper introduces an architecture for managing context-aware services in next generation networks using the facilities of programmable networks. The work and the results come from the EU CONTEXT IST-Project, in which the creation of a context information model, for achieving a consistent representation of the context and the policy methodology for creating and managing efficiently context-aware services, play an important roll for providing to users and the operators operational supports for managing pervasive services
