Abstract
Finite element analysis (FEA) is applied to analyze square wave permanent-magnet motors with exterior rotor for electric vehicle application. The. electromagnetic torque and the torque/speed characteristics of the machine are calculated, tested and analyzed systematically. The techniques to improve computation accuracy without increasing elements are introduced in the paper.
