Abstract :
This paper proposes a boost type embedded inductor DC-DC converter module in order to realize the small-size, high efficiency and convenient use as a boost type voltage regulator. The proposed converter module consists of a boost converter controller IC chip with built-in switching devices and an inductor in one package. The body size and volume of the proposed prototype converter module is less than 6.25 mm2 and 5.63 mm3. Since only two capacitors are needed as external parts, the convenience is the same as series regulator. Proposed DC-DC converter module achieves high efficiency up to 93% and is suitable for applications of 1-cell lithium-ion battery inputs. This converter module can realize an advantageous small-size power supply against charge-pump especially at large load current.
