Abstract :
Temperature control in household refrigerators and freezers is typically operated through simple on-off actuation devices, which limit the obtainable control performance and flexibility and determine a nonlinear behavior of the system. This manuscript describes an adaptive scheme that improves the characteristics of the induced temperature oscillations, without requiring modifications of the actuation hardware. The adaptive control scheme is then tested on a benchmark simulation model of a commercial refrigerator.
