Abstract :
High mobility of nodes is an important challenge of vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). Contention based forwarding protocols have well congruity with high mobility of nodes in VANET. These protocols need neither already existed route nor information about neighbors of current forwarder. But these select next hop in distributed manner using Dynamic Forwarding Delay (DFD) that is a kind of timer. In this paper we studied effectiveness of some DFDs. Also two new DFDs were proposed. We used OMNeT and sumo for simulations. Both random Model and movement on the streets and junction were used for traffic simulation. Finally some important features that can help DFDs to reduce end-to-end delay were determined.
