  • Abstract
    A new method is proposed in this paper for SVC streams transmission over IEEE 802.11e network. Our method combines the concept of SVC Quality Layers (QL), which provides good extraction of H.264/SVC streams in adaption, with an adaptive cross-layer significance-based early detection (SBED) algorithm to improve the video quality in wireless network. Experimental results show that the method achieves video quality gains under different network traffic conditions, compared with the EDCA mapping algorithm of the traditional IEEE 802.11e WLAN, and it is more suitable for wireless LAN applications.
