Abstract :
A compact high-gain dual-band microstrip phased array antenna for an integrated WLAN outdoor base station is presented. Simulations and, also, measurements of the constructed prototype antenna are introduced. The aperture coupled strip-slot-foam-inverted-patch (SSFIP) structure is used to achieve the desired system bandwidths, which are 83.5 MHz (3.4 %) at the 2.4 GHz band and 355 MHz (6.3 %) at 5 GHz. The antenna is optimally tuned to a dual-resonance at both frequency bands. A horizontal radiation pattern of 90 degrees is implemented at both frequency bands, and gains of 9.8 dBi at the 2.4 GHz band and 13.6 dBi at the 5 GHz band are measured. In addition, the required compact and integratable phase shifter for the electrical beam tilting is presented.
