Abstract :
Cognitive radio technology has been widely researched to improve the spectrum usage efficiency. Dynamic spectrum access is the most promising approach to fully utilize the scarce spectrum resources. In this paper, we consider the situation where multiple channels are owned by several primary users and propose two new dynamic spectrum access schemes which are scheme with equal detection probability and scheme with optimal access probabilities for secondary users using the continuous-time Markov chain model. Based on these new schemes, we design optimal access probabilities for the secondary users, thus the collision between the primary and secondary users is minimized, while the spectrum is utilized efficiently. The simulation results show that the proposed dynamic spectrum access scheme with optimal access probabilities not only provides less collision probability, but also achieves higher throughput than the scheme with equal detection probability.
