Abstract :
The material properties of a plasmonic core-shell particle are examined and it is demonstrated that they follow the switching properties of a Lorentzian function. Through a spherical transmission line analysis it is further demonstrated that these switching material properties are directly mapped onto the particle´s input impedance provided its size is electrically small. As a consequence the particle exhibits frequency dependent high- and low-admittance states that permit the realization of short- and open-circuit conditions at the nanoscale.
