Abstract
This paper presents a collaborative effort to combine a computer architecture lecture course with a computer topics laboratory. This integrated course provided the students with an opportunity to apply VHDL modeling to semester-long projects that illustrated many of the points learned in the lecture course. It also gave the students an opportunity to see the same material from two different perspectives, and increased teamwork skills of both the students and the faculty members involved.
